Who do you know who doesn’t see the qualities God has placed in them? When was the last time you spoke life into them?
I have a little story…..
I have a friend who has been lied to by her coworkers and bosses. The lies were not ‘in your face’ types of lies. They were subtle. They were lies built up over time. They were slowly fed to her by people she trusted and respected so she didn’t recognize what was going on. I watched my sweet friend who was once vibrant, confident and strong… slowly change into someone I didn’t recognize. No matter how much her friends and I tried to speak life and truth into her, the lies were being flung at her too often from the place she spent most of her time.
The environment where she worked was toxic and hostile. There was never encouragement from the top leader. All behavior in an organization is modeled by leadership. The leader was placed in that role with no accountability. He was given ultimate power to do, act and say. The result was a dictator who destroyed the culture of that business. He has gone unchecked by the board who hired him and slowly, the best people in that business have left for better environments. As Lord Acton said in 1887, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
As business owners, there are so many lessons to be learned by this situation but today, I’m focusing on what bad leaders do to the souls of good people.
Fast forward……
My friend left that toxic and hostile environment. The lies are so deeply embedded that even after exposure has stopped, weeks later, she’s still fighting the lies.
Thankfully, God placed her in the middle of a group of great friends who refuse to discard the side of her lost by embedded lies. As her friends, we refuse to allow those lies to stay rooted. So, we are speaking life and truth into her through scripture and prayer and written reminders of the truth of who God made her to be. Slowly, we are seeing the dense fog which seemed to surround her, begin to get thinner. We are beginning to see little glimpses of the person we knew years ago, before the lies penetrated her heart.
Who do you know who has lost sight of who God made them to be? The fog is so dense you no longer see all the qualities God placed in them? In fact, you can hardly make out who they are? How has Satan used people to lie to them to the point that they’re only a shell of who they once were?
Pray for that person. It’s no accident you have recognized their situation. The Holy Spirit has made it possible for you to see them. They need you.
Speak life into them with your friendship. Intercede on their behalf. The little things you do to reach out with the truth about who they are, makes a huge difference.

My prayer for you today….
Father God, thank you for the power of prayer. Thank you for the power of love to uproot lies. I pray the truth of who they are as sons and daughters of the most High God, would flood their soul. I pray for those in their lives who need to hear the truth. I pray you would give them the time, the courage and the energy to reach out to your Christians who have believed what Satan has told them. In Jesus Name, Amen
“We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things.”
