Matthew 6:34 Mmmm-Kay?

Be Effervescent

Sometimes, my conversations with God truly are two-way conversations. My favorite is when I’m journaling and I can capture it word for word.

Earlier this week, I wrote this:

Me: God, it’s Monday and even after resting and playing all weekend, my brain is still tired.
God: I know. It’s because you’re trying to figure everything out. Just stop. Let’s only deal with today. Mmm-kay?
Me: Yes sir. Thank You.

The ‘mmm-kay’ cracked me up!

Here’s why God had to tell me to focus on just one day. He needed me to have a break from what comes naturally to me.

I took the assessment called Clifton’s StrengthFinders. In my top 5 strengths is ‘strategic’.  This means a talent He placed in me allows me to quickly move from an issue to the solution. So, everything in my mind gets attention in this way……EVERYTHING. This is why my brain is tired. I’m always strategizing. In this case, one of my greatest strengths is also what I allow to exhaust me.

I’m reminded of a scripture that is one of my favorites…..

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
Matthew 6:34 MSG

I know you know this but it’s worth repeating. Whatever is on the horizon, He controls (not me or you).

All you can do is what Matthew 6:34 instructs…..

  • Give our ENTIRE attention to what He’s placed in front of us right now.
  • Control our thoughts and emotions so we don’t get worked up.
  • Believe His promise that He’s gonna be there when we need Him.

Imagine a day like this…….

You lean into God so hard that you recognize the areas where He is at work and then you place all of our focus on that. You watch. You listen. You learn. You rest.

I love the thought of you getting a brain break and just resting in Him. The effervescence of a lighter load and what you get to do with this time once you’ve grabbed hold of partnering with God in your business. The weight that is lifted. The physical response in your body as you rest in what God is doing right now.

Oh, what a cool image I have in my mind for you, my friend.

My prayer for you today is that you are carefree, you have a spring in your step, a smile on your face and confidence in your countenance. I pray that you take on today only with not a care in the world for tomorrow or all of the tomorrows. I pray you’re able to completely believe Matthew 6:34 with every fiber of your being and allow it to permeate your entire world. I pray all of this in Jesus Holy Name, Amen.

Much Love,

Jennifer Edwards
