Illuminate the Eyes of Our Imagination

This scripture was in my Bible reading plan this morning. I really related to it from a Christian Entrepreneur’s perspective and thought some of my friends may too. This is Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-19 Message Bible:

“… I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!”

Ephesians 1:15-19 MSG

As His Christian Entrepreneurs, we can rely on the fact that if we’re aligned with His purpose for our lives, He wants His plan and purpose to be successful… MORE than you or I could EVER want it.  Read that again. Think about it for a second…

It’s HIS plan. The desire of your heart was placed there by HIM. I know for me in my business; I get caught up in myself far too much. “I” feel like “I” need to do more. “I” need to make more and better plans. “I” need to be more efficient. “I” need to go to more networking events. “I” need to get better at marketing….and the to-do list in my head never stops.

Even worse is when the “imposter syndrome” sets in. We ALL have this syndrome from time to time. It’s STILL a matter of me thinking about ‘me’ and NOT about Him and being aligned with HIS purpose in my life.

But what “I”  REALLY need to be doing is just listening and asking myself if I am:

1. in alignment with His purpose for my life

2. getting quiet in the morning and clearing my mind of ‘me’

3. in tune with the Holy Spirit to get those clear messages for my next step.

4. Taking action

So much of what “I”  think “I”  need to make happen is already available to me when I seek Him.

I love The Passion Text translation of Ephesian 1:18: I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling – that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!

I couldn’t say it any better than Paul. I pray this exact prayer over you and your business today.

Blessings,

Jennifer Edwards
