Sow Seeds, Lots Of Seeds

Sow Seeds….Lots of Them

When I started my business, I attended every possible networking event I could find. I had countless one-to-one meetings to share my new adventure. At the time, it was the only thing I knew to do. I was launching a new business and I was certain clients weren’t going to magically knock down my door. So, day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year, I met people and shared what I do.

I planted seeds.  Lots of seeds…

Against the advice of everything I read and every person who had a sales background, I met with people and basically poured out my knowledge on whatever subject came up.

My mission was…  and still is to ‘help people…help people’.

I was told that I should never provide for free what I could charge. But – that’s just not me. If I met with someone and they brought up something that I could help with in a little one-hour meeting, I poured it out for them.

Recently, I learned what happens when you ignore the advice from all of the sales gurus and just listen and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Last week, I received a random text from someone I’d met with 18 months ago.  She told me I had told her that ‘cash is king during a recession’. I say this A LOT.  My experience through three previous economic recessions has taught me that a lot of debt and a little cash is a recipe for disaster for a business.  I have said this to clients and in one-to-one meetings with strangers.

At this one meeting, I planted that seed and it took root. It grew a mighty tree and these business owners threw themselves into a hard-core plan to pay off debt and get cash set aside.  She reached out to tell me they were debt free and had cash saved up just in time for the pandemic, when they had to temporarily shut down.

Ya’ll…..that was NOT me! I take no credit for this success. What I DO take credit for is saying yes to a random meeting, ignoring the advice of sales gurus, listening and OBEYING the leading of the Holy Spirit and being brave enough to speak the words. God certainly must have an amazing plan for this business because the hard work they did in a very short time was exactly what they needed to do.

I am SO EXCITED to watch and listen to their story from this point forward.

My heart and calling in all of what I do for business owners is to ‘help people…help people’. If my words from a random meeting, so many months ago, make it possible for them to help others – them my heart is full.  My calling is accomplished and God gets the glory for it ALL.

I’d love to hear what you do that is a direct instruction from the Holy Spirit which goes against all the pro’s advice.

Sincerely Yours,

Jennifer Edwards
